A Fact About Patience

Patience

According to an Assembled General Belief, Patience is a good-natured tolerance of delay or incompetence. Everyone is established and granted access to it but not everyone accesses it. When we talk about patience, what comes to most people’s mind is Suffering and Waiting and we don’t like to wait. Call it long-suffering or Endurance, Truth is “You can’t have patience without waiting”.

This particular topic struck me in church on a Sunday service and as I was making a draft on it, being a surefooted talkative, I disclosed the word to my Mentor who was sitting beside me. He gave me a quote on it saying “Patience is not really waiting; it’s what you do while you’re waiting”. I just opened my mouth in a stupefied manner. The Bible accounts for many individuals that were Patient and they reaped the wait. Paul waited, Moses was patient; he led over two million people through the desert, some were ungrateful while some were unfaithful but he was patient, Job is a practical example of Patience, through thick and thin, he didn’t give up, he didn’t wait in bed, he talked to God and God never lets anyone down (Isaiah 40:31). He was abandoned by his friends and wife and still in Job 13:15 he said “Though he slay me, yet I will trust in him. Even so, I will defend my own ways before him”, that was what the quote was all about “Patience is not really waiting; it’s what you do while you’re waiting”. Job waited with attitude. You could be waiting in sin, you could be waiting is sorrow, whatever you choose to put yourself into while waiting influences your reward when the wait is over.

I saw a local movie a few weeks back where a woman’s daughter was kidnapped, the villagers had accused her of her daughter’s disappearance and threatened to pronounce a death sentence on her if the missing girl wasn’t found at a given period, she had waited for days, weeks and months but her only daughter didn’t show up. On a fine afternoon, the villagers made for her home, she had thought they were coming to kill her; she quickly made for the knife and drove it into her stomach. By the time the villagers came closer to her home, they began to sing songs of Joy, the Missing daughter had been found. It was too late. You will not experience such in Jesus Name. You don’t just wait, you wait with Attitude. Patience is deciding something is worth the wait, Patience and a good attitude goes hand in hand.

The Bible talked about patience several times, in fact it’s one of the fruit of the spirit according to Gal. 5:22 ; is it patience in Anger (James 1: 19-20), In doing Good (Gal. 6:9),In the coming of Christ (James 5:7-8),Apostle Paul urged us to be patient in (Eph. 4:1-2),  and the book of psalms pressed on it a lot of times (Psalm 27:14, 33:20, 37:7, 37:34, 38:15). Don’t give up on God, waiting in faith and Prayers; he said “FOR I KNOW THE PLANS I HAVE FOR YOU, PLANS OF PEACE AND NOT OF EVIL TO HARM YOU, PLANS TO GIVE YOU HOPE AND A FUTURE”-Jer. 29:11

Here’s my Tip: If you’re tired of waiting on something, think of waiting times as Waiting on God “IN FAITH”. So instead of waiting on something, wait on God to help you get it or change it.
